So gripping that I was hooked from the onset and literally could not put this book down! I made it to the end in a single non-stop read to get to the "who dun it!" I am not one to read for pleasure, mostly for information. However, this book cohesively intertwines both some artist's license with American Indian history, culture and topography with stunningly highly imaginative, modern day fictional characters and events. Even further, this author presents a uniquely insightful and wholly suspenseful journey into the criminal and investigative mind's psyche, duly captivating and thoroughly rewarding the reader with twists at every well regulated juncture. The carefully constructed "WOW factor" ending most certainly lends itself to a hopeful continuum and leaves the reader with a burning desire for more and still more! This wildly descript and entirely riveting work is superbly framed for and undoubtedly well deserving of a star studded big screen movie or TV mystery mini-series. Hunting Grounds, by R. Harrison Shaw, is an enjoyable thrill ride, taking you from the seedy side of Hollywood glamour and crime to the mysteries of Native American traditions and spirit. Mr. Shaw's work reads like a pulp fiction / film noir thriller, and anyone who enjoys romance, action and suspense will get more than they bargained for in the Hunting Grounds.
I couldn't put the book down from start to finish! The story takes many twists and turns, keeps you guessing, think you can figure it out? There is a great depth of characters, from Hollywood to Native American. The writing gave me the feel as though I was a part of the story. This has to become a screen play, let's hope there is a next one.
Did not want this book to end! Fell in love with the characters. A hard-to-put-down page-turner that kept me interested throughout. Very well written intriguing mystery/love story/suspense thriller, not the typical fluff... a great story. Hope there's at least a sequel coming; I picture a long running TV series. Highly recommend.
To keep it real, I cannot stand reading! I had to chose a fiction story for my book report in my English and a friend recomended Hunting Grounds to me. WOW!!! I was instantly entertained and felt like the pages were flying by. The characters were very unique and and very unpredictable. This book has some shocking twists that I did not see coming. I feel like this book was such an easy read not only because everything flowed together but because of the characters, i cannot rave enough about them. I would recomend this book to anyone ages 12+. This book made it very easy to write my report because it was really enjoyable to read and break down. I didn't want this book to end! I was so sad... I hope there will be a sequal! Until then, I'll definitly read this book again!
I'm not easy to please when it comes to fiction. A friend recommended I read this book, honestly I wasn't looking forward to it. I quickly changed my mind once I started to read it. The character development was fantastic, it was hard to put down once I started to read it. Normally I don't do a lot of reviews, I wanted to present this as an option for my book club and they tend to vote based on reviews. I was very surprised there weren't more reviews so here I am to tell you how much I liked it. This is a great book with a cool twisty turning plot.
